TALES OF THE CITY
Good morning from Los Angeles. It’s a gloomy, overcast day. An Enya “Watermark” kind of day.
I wanted to share a recent conversation I had with one of my oldest friends Bryce for Tell, a publication centered around Midwestern stories and experiences. Bryce and I grew up in Minneapolis on the same street, two houses apart from each other. Our conversation dived deep into a litany of topics ranging from the experiences that ignited my interest in music, my involvement with the Minneapolis punk scene as a teenager, some of the first shows I ever played, setting up house shows and booking tours in the 90’s all the way to my time in Seattle & Portland, Chromatics, into the things I am working on today. This was a long one and I hope you enjoy reading it! Read it here.

I know I’m a little behind on mentioning but I would also like to say thank you to all of those who came out to see us on Jeff and I’s west coast tour in July. I was so touched to see so many faces old and new. The shows were all such a blast and I look forward to more in the future. We still have some shirts from the tour. I love these shirts and think that you dear reader, would look exceptionally dazzling in one. They are available on my bandcamp…
Also I have probably written about it before on here but this Nara Leao album “Des Anos Depois” is a real dream. I’ve gotten really into it over the past few years but I finally tracked down a copy on CD and been listening again non-stop. If you love the Françoise Hardy album “La Question” as much as I do, this album traverses into that same elegant, minimal, airy space. The kind of space I live for.
As Nikki Sudden used to say, “stay bruised, stay beautiful.” Thanks for tuning in to my substack.
Love, Adam
