SOUNDTRACK TO MY WEEK...
I’ve been obsessed with this little gem I discovered recently… Jean Philippe Rykiel’s self-titled solo album from 1982. I don’t know much about him other than that he is blind and the son of french fashion designer Sonia Rykiel. The album consists of joyful, ripply, little soulful synthesizer and drum machine ditties and it is very french, in the best way possible. This is the kind of stuff I am always on the hunt for. To my ears, some of it sounds reminiscent of the interludes on Daft Punk’s Discovery. The music feels very alive and optimistic. Unfortunately the album is only available to listen to on youtube so I had to track down a physical copy of it for myself on the dark web (i.e. discogs). What a cute front cover. I feel like it actually is a great visual representation of the music contained within. I added a link below to the youtube upload of the album. Hope you all love it as much as I do!
