A MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD VOL. IV
Good morning fellow inhabitants of starship earth. It's morning in California as I write this. A little out of it and jet lagged from a 6 hour flight back yesterday from Philadelphia. I’m listening to Laurence Vanay’s “Galaxies” as I type this out. I’ve written about this album before on Substack. It’s beautiful, luxurious music and has been a favorite of mine for years. If you’ve never listened to it you’d be doing yourself a favor. Here’s a link again below. For a quick reference I often tell people it’s like the more spectral, airy Françoise Hardy early 70’s era woven with the La Planète Sauvage soundtrack.
In case you may might have missed it on social media. Inner Magic and I are playing a show on February 15th in Los Angeles at Gold Diggers opening for our friends the Ruth Radelet Experience. I am very excited for this show as we haven’t performed live since 2022’s Substance Festival. Our friend Aaron Montaigne will be joining us on drums. It feels so good to have live drums going again, Aaron is doing a super job and arrived to our first rehearsal with copious notes on the songs in hand. I haven’t performed with a live drummer since playing with Natty at Chromatics’ last show in fall 2019. We’ve been rehearsing a lot, bringing lots of new songs into the set, playing material off of Illusion Pool, and maybe a couple Chromatics songs from the catalog. Gold Diggers is a very small intimate venue in Hollywood. There are still some tickets left here. Our friend legendary mixmaster Chris Coady will be DJ-ing the evening. Bringing some of that Baltimore magic to the Gold Diggers sound system. Chris has been busy mixing some more songs that Hannah of Cold Beat, Mikal and I worked on last year. I’m so excited to begin sharing those as well. Hope you all can make it!
One last thing, the other week Tonitruale Magazine published a long interview I did with them a couple months ago. Here is a link to it. This was a very enjoyable interview for me to do. Tonitruale allowed me the space to open up and talk about things that I don’t get asked about very often. I hope you read it and enjoy. That is all for now. See you on the interweb. Electronically yours, Adam
