A MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD VOL. III
It's been awhile and it has been a busy fall for me since my new EP Illusion Pool was released. Thanks for sticking with me. It feels great to finally have the music out in the electronic mainline and I’ve been thrilled with the response. It means the world to me that you’ve streamed it, added it to your playlists, shared it with friends, and/or supported me on bandcamp. If you've yet to check out the full 5 song EP, it's available on all streaming platforms and my bandcamp.
I will be DJ’ing the Martin Rev show at Zebulon next week. I’ve been looking forward to this one for months. Below is the flyer I made for it. I’ve been told it’s about to sell out any day so if you’re thinking about attending, there are still a few tickets available here. Each time I’ve seen Martin perform it’s been a life affirming experience. I intend to bring some sensual winter magic to the turntables. Please join us for what will surely be a wonderful evening.
I’ve got some shows in the works for 2024 (to be announced soon), some more new tracks Mike and I made with Hannah Lew being mixed to be shared in early 2024. I can’t wait because one of them was originally written around the time of Kill For Love, and it’s one of my favorite pieces of music I’ve ever written.
I noticed instagram has really started limiting the reach of posts lately, so apologies if some of this might be repeat information but I thought I’d share some of this stuff again in case you missed it the first time around or do not use instagram.
First off I made these new t-shirts for the EP. I love how they turned out. They're available on both black and white t-shirts here.
Also the video that my good friend Wes and I made for my version of Chromatics “Camera” is here. This video was so fun to make, I finally got to live out my mid 70’s Steve Hillage fantasy.
To coincide with the EP, I’ve had the good fortune of being asked to do some interviews. I love doing interviews, they’re always a great vehicle to further learn how to formulate my thoughts, and often times I end up discovering something about myself or my life that I had never considered before. Here are some links to those.
I did a fun interview for the online publication Northern Transmissions, I got to talk a lot about singing, The Byrds, and working with Lol Tolhurst on the EP. Read it here.
For this interview with the online periodical 15 Questions, I got to speak on my creative process, getting into Olympia and D.C. underground music as a teenager and how that had a big influence on me, speaking voice vs. singing voice, the Mamas and The Papas, and much more. This interview was very enjoyable to do as well and gave me the space to reflect on my output as an artist in ways that hadn’t previously occurred to me. Not only that, the editors added a bunch of links to enhance the subjects I spoke about, which was really cool. It went on for so long that they ended up breaking it up into two parts. Part I can be read here, and part II can be found here. Hope you enjoy!
-And lastly I was recently a guest for episode #49 of the Twin Peaks-centric podcast, Creamed Corn And The Universe. I was a little nervous doing this as it’s a Twin Peaks focused podcast and I didn’t really know if I would be able to add anything interesting from my experience being a part of the show, but it turned out that Twin Peaks was just the stepping stone to an enjoyable and interesting conversation. You can give it a listen here. The podcast can also be found here on Spotify and on Apple Podcasts.
That’s it for now, thanks again for tuning in. Sincerely, Adam
